Auld Lang Syne. The words can be interpreted as since long ago or for old times’ sake, but ‘Auld Lang Syne’ is also seen in Christian communities to honor God and give thanks for the blessing of the past year.
So, in the spirit of Auld Lang Syne, reflecting on the past year and present blessings, what can we say?
Well, it was an election year—and a weird one at that. We anticipate a more life-friendly administration. Definitely a blessing!
It was also a year that brought abortion back to Missouri—but for how long? Many people don’t view this as a death knell to pro-life Missouri. If anything, it may have stirred up a hornet’s nest of people who care deeply about the life issue. We’re very thankful for that!
We can also report with confidence that by December 31, 2024, over 160 babies will have been born to women who came through the clinic in St. Joseph or Cameron and/or attended the parenting classes. During a season that celebrates “the Birth,” who wouldn’t celebrate these babies’ births?
As far as present blessings go, the PRC is still here. The doors are still open, and will be as long as God wants them to be open. After all, He is sovereign!
The 24/7 nurse chatline helped 23 women get medication to reverse the effects of the first abortion pill. Although we don’t know the outcome of the reversals, that’s 23 babies whose mother’s found our website and ultimately chose life for their children. Praise God!
Through the blessings of challenges, we see our fighting spirit arrive on the scene! We have not witnessed one staff member or volunteer back down this year. If anything, more people want to be involved in this mission than ever! There’s always room for one more!
Perhaps the biggest blessing this year has been the ongoing support we have received from our faithful donors. For 25 years (since long ago) this ministry has grown because people in our communities believe in the cause. Now that’s Auld Lang Syne in motion—past reflection and present blessing!
Happy New Year!
