We could lose our way. We could offer everything. We could be all things to all people—but we aren’t. We understand that our job is to give a pregnant woman all the information she needs to make a life choice and then support her through prenatal/parenting education and allow her to earn material resources which make the parenting journey a bit easier. Thereby, we will meet her physical, spiritual, and emotional needs.
When Nicky* arrived at our clinic for her appointment, she was upset about her pregnancy and didn’t want to add any more children to her family. In addition to the ultrasound imaging, Nicky received information on adoption, parenting, and the risks associated with abortion. The information and images of her unborn baby empowered Nicky to choose life.
Nicky joined our prenatal/parenting classes, which she regularly attended and received packages of diapers, clothing, and other baby necessities. The classes provided spiritual encouragement, a wealth of great information about babies and parenting, and fellowship with other pregnant women.
After her baby was born, Nicky was invited to come back to our clinic and bring her baby in for a baby visit. These visits are such an encouragement to the medical staff! Our sonographer loved getting to see the baby she saw before on the ultrasound. We were able to spend about 30 minutes just visiting with her about her pregnancy, delivery, and motherhood. Nicky also talked about the classes and how she loved the teachers that led her class.
While we can’t be all things to all people, we can be true to our mission. We are life- affirming, and Even if it’s just for a season we, feel honored to be able to make a difference in the lives of women like Nicky each and every week.
